- Practical tips to get best out of your colleagues

1) Treat your reportees as your colleagues, because they are real-winners who sweat out in the market to get you the desired results.

2) Trust their instincts too (you can't always be right, give them the right to make choices),

3) Give them room to grow (as everybody has his/her own priorities, just go to your colleague and appreciate his/her failure too which will make him/her understand how he/she failed without you coming into the picture and letting them know what went wrong),

4)  Interaction is the key to game (may be your colleagues can come up with a valid point, as they may be more practical than you + this is how you are on the driver seat and can take better decisions),

5) Money is not always the factor: don't take me wrong but regular flow of money do create wonders and can sunk the ship too, you know what I mean ;),

6) Humane touch should be there: Getting everything documented is fine but face-to-face communication or telephonic conversation is also very important,

7) Specify the destination: It's always good to have a goal in your mind, but do remember to take your colleagues along for reaching that goal,

8) Reward your employees (here I don't mean monetarily): Acknowledge the value of work done by your colleagues, buy them movie tickets (bookmyshow would come handy in these), call his father to make him aware about the good work done bu their son, appreciate the smart work done by him/her,

9) Purpose should be clear: Your colleagues should be knowing the purpose behind their smart work, which will fuel the ignition in them,

10) Make your employees street smart/marketable: Don't fear that what if your colleague leaves the organization, what about the costing which you have invested on him/her, instead give them your piece of mind on how you think growing would help him her; this will instill his/her faith in you and company. This would look bit awkward but this has worked for me (so chances are there it will work for you too),

I am sure this will help the upcoming and (with my due respect) established leaders.....just try it and leave the comment once it helps you out AND may be sharing the experience would help others too :)

Thanks, will come soon with another piece of my mind :)......Vishwas Joshi
