Greetings friends..!!

After a long time, I am active on my blog with some information on newly introduced Hop On Hop Off Bus sight-seeing service introduced by Bengalooru BMTC.

This service (introduced on the lines of HOHO London) is one of a kind in India, other cities being Delhi & Mysore (this is what I know).

So coming back to point, this service (as it's name says) is Hop On Hop Off service which takes you around 20+ famous landmarks of Bengalooru; the main point of this service is you can get down at the landmark at your will and board the bus again (from the same landmark) every 30-45 minutes.

Technically speaking, BMTC has re-launched these service around May-June 2014 with a fleet of 7 Multi-Axle volvo buses which are fully air conditioned.

The bus starts from Kempegowda Bus Stop locally known as "Majestic" @ 8:30, with other buses after 30 minutes each (i.e., 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, & so on till 7-8 in evening). For more information on timings you can go to BMTC website @

I boarded the bus departing @ 9:00 but I would suggest that you board the bus @ 8:30 to cover all the places in one day (or in other words, to have a feel of all the places).

The landmarks covered are: Tippu's Palace, Lal Bagh, Freedom Park, Cubbon Park, Bull Temple, Lumbini Park, Ulsoor Lake, Ulsoor Gurudwara, Isckon Temple, to name a few.  For more information on the landmarks included you can go to BMTC website @

One thing to remember is: these services are there for taking you the landmarks, you have to buy the entry tickets (which are very cheap in monetary terms) at your own expenses; and also the breakfast/meals won't be provided by BMTC.

If I talk about us, then me & my wife took the rickshaw to Kempegowda bus stop around 8:25 from our place @ Koramangala, and reached the bus stop around 8:45 and boarded the bus departing @ 9:00.

Also, remember you can buy the tickets in the bus itself for Rs. 250 per individual; as we were travelling in promotion period of BMTC (which is till 15th July) mine pocket was light by Rs. 300 only, i.e. Rs. 150 per individual.

The bus departed @ 9:00 sharp, and took us to Tippu Palace (first landmark on the schedule)within 10-15 minutes; we took the entry ticket (stamped by Archaleogical Survey of India) @ Rs. 5 each (it's Rs. 100 for a foreigner, very smart of ASI).

Second destination on the list was Bull Temple, in which a gigantic life size idol of Nandi is being worshipped (I think this is one of the very very few temple in India dedicated to Nandi Ji).
While entering the temple premises, you can see another temple dedicated to “Ganpathi Ji”; my conclusion: before starting any auspicious work “Lord Ganpathi” is given preference.

Diagonally opposite to “Bull Temple”, on the junction of road, is snack joint “Halli Jhindi” which is a famous spot for breakfast, its filling Dosas & specially “Madurai Vada”.

P.S: Famous or not famous, the joint serves its purpose, as “Bull Temple” is the second place in “Ho-Ho Bengalooru” & you get free after “Darshan” around 9:45.

Third landmark on schedule was “Lalbaugh” & so on.

And we got free, around 9:00 in evening and bus dropped us @ “Majestic”.

Now, another interesting feature of the bus ticket is: after buying the bus ticket you can board any BMTC bus on that day (including Volvo & excluding “Vayu Vajra” service). So once we got free around 9:00, we boarded the Volvo bus from “Platform 4” for “Forum Mall” (that too without any cost as it was mentioned on ticket itself).

All in all, I would suggest Bangloreans & visitors to Bengalooru to experience this service once; and do wait for my review of "Hop On Hop Off Mysore" which will be out shortly.
